Guests Test Positive for Salmonella
Guests at the Aparthotel have had to seek medical treatment both in Lanzarote and on their return home after suffering from sickness and diarrhoea. Upon their return home a number of guests have tested positive for the presence of salmonella, a bacteria which causes food poisoning.
Salmonella can be contracted by consuming contaminated meat or eggs or drinking contaminated milk. It can also be contracted by eating fruit and vegetables which have been in contact with fertiliser from animals who are infected with the bacteria. Drinking water can also become contaminated.
If you have contracted a gastric illness, in the last three years, due to poor food safety and hygiene standards whilst on a package holiday, then you may be able to pursue a claim against your tour operator.
